1Who we are
DoggyFontein is a mobile pet grooming service based in Cape Town, South Africa. We are the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
2What we collect
When you book with us, we collect:
- Your full name, phone number, and email address
- The address where you would like the groom to take place
- Your pet's name, breed, size, coat type, and any special instructions you provide
- Booking history, payment status, and any notes our groomers add about your appointments
- Limited technical information from your browser (e.g., for booking flow analytics)
3How we use it
- To schedule, route, and deliver your grooming appointments
- To process payments via our payment partner (PayFast)
- To send booking confirmations, ETA updates, and appointment reminders via WhatsApp and email
- To improve our service and tailor recommendations to your pet's needs
- To show your review on our website, but only if you tick the box asking us to when you send it, and only beside a short name you choose yourself. Never your full name, phone number, or email address. Tell us and we will take it down.
- To comply with our legal and accounting obligations
4Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share limited, necessary data with:
- Our groomers, so they can find you and prepare for your pet
- PayFast, our payment processor, to handle transactions securely
- Twilio, our messaging partner, to deliver booking confirmations and updates
- Our accounting partners, where required for invoicing and tax compliance
- Law enforcement or regulators, only where legally compelled
5How long we keep it
We keep booking records for up to 7 years to comply with South African tax and accounting requirements. You can ask us to delete your account data at any time, subject to those legal retention periods.
6Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or update that information
- Object to direct marketing at any time
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention rules
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa)

7Cookies
Some of this website is always on, because booking does not work without it. The rest only loads if you say yes.
Always on. Your browser keeps a few things on this device: your answers while you book, your cookie choice, whether you closed the install-app button, and our own note of the link or website that brought you here, which is saved with your booking. Google Maps loads on our pages so the address search can find your street, and Google receives what you type into the address box.
Only if you choose Accept all. Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and Microsoft Clarity may load. They show us which ads and pages bring people to book, and Clarity records how visitors scroll and tap so we can find what gets in the way. Each sets its own cookies and sends what it collects to Google, Meta or Microsoft. Clarity does not record what you type, and masks everything on the booking page. None of them load on the payment, feedback or manage-your-groom pages.
Choose Necessary only and none of them load, and booking works exactly the same. We remember your choice on this device for 12 months. To change it, use , here or at the foot of our pages. If you switch to Necessary only, we tell each tool to stop, delete the cookies it set on doggyfontein.app and reload the page. Cookies they keep on their own websites can only be cleared there.
8Security
Your personal data is stored on encrypted, access-controlled infrastructure (Supabase + Vercel). Payments are handled directly by PayFast on their PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure. We never store your card details on our servers.
